Real experiences from real travelers
The selection of kimonos was incredible! The ladies who dressed us were so fast and professional. Walking around the lake with Mt Fuji in the background while wearing a kimono was a dream come true.
We booked this for the sakura season. The location is super convenient right next to Kawaguchiko station. The hair styling add-on was worth it!
The kimono looked amazing. Since it was January, they let me wear my heattech shirt underneath which saved me. Highly recommend for the photos.
I was worried about the fit as I am tall, but they had sizes that worked perfectly. The obi belt is tight but you get used to it. Wonderful memories.
People stopped to take photos with us! The staff helped us choose matching colors for me and my husband. A must-do in Kawaguchiko.
Very organized shop. We dropped our bags, got dressed, and had 3 hours to explore. The shoes take some getting used to.
My daughter and I did this together. The children's kimonos are adorable. We took a taxi to the lake for photos and it was easy.
For the price, this is a steal. You get a full set including the bag and sandals. The photos look like they cost a fortune to produce.
Everything you need to know for your journey
You generally don't need to bring anything as the rental includes the full set (kimono, obi, underwear, bag, sandals). However, in winter, we recommend wearing a V-neck thermal shirt and leggings for warmth.
Rain doesn't stop the experience! You can rent a traditional umbrella for great photos. However, if the weather is severe, you can contact us to reschedule or cancel according to the policy.
The professional dressing process usually takes about 20-30 minutes per person. Allow an extra 15-20 minutes if you add hair styling.
Yes! There are distinguished hakama and kimono styles for men and cute, colorful options for children of various ages.
Yes, you can. However, be aware that climbing the steps to the pagoda in traditional 'geta' sandals can be challenging. We recommend taking a taxi to the top or walking very carefully.
Kimono is made of silk or synthetic fabric, fully lined, and worn in cooler months (Oct-May). Yukata is a light, casual cotton cotton robe worn in summer (Jun-Sept).
Basic hair accessories are often included, but professional hair styling (updos, curls) is usually an add-on service for a small extra fee.
We stock a wide range of sizes. Most standard rentals fit heights up to 175cm for women and 185cm for men. Plus sizes are available but limited, so please inquire if concerned.
Yes, most rental shops including our partners at Fujisan Plaza offer free luggage storage for your street clothes and suitcases while you are out walking.
You simply return to the shop by the designated time (usually 5:00 PM). The staff will help you change back into your regular clothes quickly.
Winters in Kawaguchiko are cold. We strongly suggest wearing 'Heattech' or thermal inner wear with a deep V-neck (so it doesn't show) and leggings under the kimono.
Absolutely! Part of the fun is browsing the racks. You can mix and match the kimono, obi sash, and accessories to create your unique look.
